Graphic EQ on SC Si Expression 2/24 is no worky.
« on: March 09, 2014, 04:29:11 PM »

Club has the above desk and the graphic EQ for main L/R is not working.
Manual is useless and SC tech support was....not helpful (although, in his defense he said I could call back Monday as I was not in front of the desk at the time). He suggested a reset/reconfig/restart process that did not work. The manual has a default reset that also did not work. In these processes, everything on the board should have been reset, meaning any data save would be erased and we'd have to start over. Neither process did what it was supposed to do.
The parametric IS available on the mains and that's what we're using.
And, it seems the graphic IS available on the MON outs.
Anyone have a suggestion or know how to fix this?
Thanks folx.

Can you please explain how it is not working? When you select the LR fader and then one of the graphic EQ buttons does nothing happen? Does it catch fire? Sorry Erich, I'm afraid I can't do that?

Not sure whether your reply is serious or not.
What other explanation did you need? The selected graphic EQ for the MAIN L/R does not work (neither HI nor LO). Makes no changes in the EQ.
It does not "catch fire".
Can't do what?

Is the insert activated?

It was a serious question with a joke attached. I just wanted more detail - for example, does the EQ come up on the faders but not actually work, or can you not even get it to display on the faders?

Is the insert activated?

Logical question, but in this case GEQ are hard patched and always active on Si.

We need to know what it is doing or not doing so we can figure out where the problem is.  What software version? Do you have an Ipad hooked up?  How are you trying to access the EQ controls and at what step do they not "work?"

From memory:
You select your output (say LR)
Then press the high or low EQ button.
The button turns red as do the faders.
They also snap to the centre or current settings.

Then you can move the faders and have the current setting show up in the LCD.  Does it show the change? Hold the settings between invocations?  Can you just not hear the change?  Does the console lock up?  We need more detail.

Asking why it's not working is like asking why can't I turn my car with out us knowing if you even have the key in the ignition.

Not a Si user, but I'd be surprised if there isn't a bypass control somewhere.

If you hold both GEQ buttons they change color and the GEQ is bypassed. But it's sorta hard to do this by mistake, and not notice, but perhaps you're right. Check the color of the GEQ keys when you open the LR graphic. Does this happen when you load a different show?

Silly question, but did you press the select button for the L/R and then the upper or lower EQ button. And then did the faders turn red in response, or did they turn ORANGE??
