No Tsunami warning, though, sorry...

No tsunami is a good thing...

Japan is located in a earthquake prone region, so their building standards reflect that.

When I lived in Utsunomiya, Tochigi prefecture, an earthquake of that magnitude (6.6) knocked me out of my bed and I was on the floor.  We had a few broken bottles that fell from the kitchen cabinets, but no structural damage.  All their high rises since 1995 built or upgraded to take 9.0 quakes.

But it was nothing compared to the great Tohoku earthquake on March 11, 2011.  I was in Yokohama at the time, and while running down the stairs from the 15th floor while evacuating, I was being tossed in the stairwells. Outside, you can see the building moving on all 3 axes...front-back, sideways, up and down.
