Mini PA Advice
« on: February 19, 2014, 07:32:29 AM »

Hello all. I need some electronics help. We are doing some busking with small battery-powered amps. I would like to get a 12V power inverter to run this mini rig from a deep cycle 12 Volt battery. I need to know the correct output for the inverter to run this. These are the outputs of the various wall warts:

Crate Taxi Limo –       Output:0.6 amps

Roland Cube Street –    Output: 9.0 volts/2amps/18 watts max

TC-HeliconVOICETONE HARMONY-G XT
                        Output: 12 VDC 300 mA

Could I run this setup with something like this?:

http://www.homedepot.com/p/BLACK-and-DECKER-500-Watt-Dual-Outlet-Power-Inverter-PI500BB/202564876?N=5yc1vZbxdu

Cost is a large factor, but I don't want to blow up our new little amps!

Thanks,

Bob

The total output of those wall warts is 2.9A and that is almost certain to be more than what the attached devices need under normal conditions. The continuous output rating of the power inverter is 4.35A so it should have no problem with this load.

I just realized I made a hugh gaff. The output of those wall warts is at 9-12v while the input side will be the 115v output of the inverter. That means current draw on the inverter is a factor of 10 lower or only 0.29A which is only about 33w so you could get away with a much smaller inverter.
