JBL Speakers - Positive and Negative Terminals
« on: February 08, 2014, 01:03:52 PM »

I had some JBL 2226HPL speakers reconed and was told that the red (positive) terminal and black (negative) terminals are opposite.  I checked using the old 9 volt battery check and it confirmed that as fact.  These came out of JBL SR4733X cabinets.

Is this the case with JBL speakers in general?

Not any more.  For a long time JBL used the "positive voltage on the black terminal makes the piston move forward (away from the magnet)."  They changed that a few years ago for certain models/families.  The linked page has a chart.
