JBL Sub question
« on: March 13, 2014, 06:25:04 AM »

 SRX728s - 4719a Modifications
I currently have a pair of 728s cabinets that have no drivers
I currently have a pair of 4719a cabinets and hate the carpeted boxes.
Simply, how would the 2241 drivers perform in the 728 cabinets
What modifications should I consider
Or get the idea out of my head?

I have a pair of empty JBL 728s Subs
I have a working pair of JBL 4719a Subs that I hate the carpeted boxes
Simply, concerns and comments on using the drivers from the 4719 in the 728 boxes?

Most of the advise you will get would advise you not to do it. I would say try it. If you like it, great. If you don't, take them back out. The OEM speakers for those boxes are very, very pricey.

Well.. the new SRX 828 series use the old 2242 drivers. What does that say? All these JBL drivers will work in a range of cabinet sizes and tunings so your proposed combo will "work" you just have to determine what tuning frequency the combo produces and apply appropriate processing and power.

Try it.  Minimal labor involved in moving the speakers.

Do you have access to another, real 728 to compare with?
