trouble shooting a Mackie SR 32-4 VLZ Pro mixing console
« on: January 13, 2014, 10:24:20 PM »

When I turned on my mixer I received a input signal in the level set of 40 under unity.  I opened the back up and looked to see if there was any loose sodering, etc. Now when I turn the mixer the OL and -20 light on every channel is on. Any suggestions on what might be causing this?
Thank you,
JB

You are going to want to change your user name to your actual name per the forum rules. A moderator will be along shortly to lock this thread until you do so, I am sure.

I've never had any trouble shooting a Mackie product.

Just use the appropriate caliber...

Yeah, but it's hardly a challenging target.

For John - do as Ryan Jenkins suggests... re-seat every ribbon connector (gently pull it off and put it back on).  If this doesn't "fix" the problem you need to take it to qualified service technician.

If all else fails contact Mackie service department and ask them.

Try re-seating the ribbon cables. The symptom with all lights misbehaving suggests a power supply problem, but that may be caused by a bad cable connection..

A mortar would be a good caliber projectile to troubleSHOOT with. Of course be sure to stand back so no humans are injured.

There are no longer any humans behind Mackie, just LOUD/Sun Capital Partners.  Fire at will.

One of the money guys I used to argue with at Peavey, ended up going to Sun after he left Peavey (or it left him). So yes fire away... they're only suits..

I had the same problem on that mixer.  Hum from 60Hz AC from was every so slightly getting into the signal chain.  Turned out to be power supply issue with the rectifier circuit (old/bad caps).  The shop in Washington state (former Mackie engineers) swapped power supplies and issue was gone.

Good luck,
