I had the same problem on that mixer.  Hum from 60Hz AC from was every so slightly getting into the signal chain.  Turned out to be power supply issue with the rectifier circuit (old/bad caps).  The shop in Washington state (former Mackie engineers) swapped power supplies and issue was gone.

That'd be S&X Pro Audio in Tukwila, WA. They're quite brilliant there, and for those who are local (like myself) their rates are super reasonable. Local, so I can't comment on speed or pricing of shipping.

Ray, indeed it was S&X.  It's been 6 years and I forgot.
Their rates were actually cheaper than in Chicagoland area; I just had to pay shipping.  Fast turnaround, very professional, and super honest.

How about that...two JR's in this thread.
