Monitor mixing Yamaha ls9 help

I usually use layer 33-64 for monitor mixing I use the graphic eq only for controlling feedback
can u please tell me what is the best way to change the tone of the instrument in the wedge  without using the graphic eq and how

I don't know if I got the question right, I guess I would just use the channel PEQ.

When you can use separate channels for monitors, always use them post channel PEQ. I would say post everything (PEQ, dynamics, even fader). Well, the post or pre fader question is up to personal taste. When using post fader sends the channels mustn't be routed to the main mix, of course.
