Talk to the squint du jour and get a scrap of lighting gel.  That and a small piece of Scotch tape will knock down the lumens.
Whoops!  I meant that as a positive.  For $10... it has some lumens!

Ikea sells a gooseneck LED light for $10 that's bright:  http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20169658/

I have one of these and it is indeed very bright. If you can tame the lumens its a pretty cheap solution.

Looking for a good light for the SI Compact 24. Any suggestions?

I use a Middle Atlantic LT-GN - USB with our 01V96 all the time. Good light that spreads out well. For $19.00 they're pretty affordable. I plug it into a USB hub but any USB port will work.

I have goosenecks galore, freestanding, bnc, xlr, q5, led you name it. You want to know what I like the best?

A cheap desk lamp from a 'dollar" store with a screw in florescent bulb.

here is this weekends holiday show:

dont know what the si compact has for lighting output but I use this: http://www.amazon.com/Goal-Zero-14101-Stick-Light/dp/B0045XRK06/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1387333150&sr=8-1&keywords=led+usb+lights

with my ls9 16 using the usb for power.  i run into small issues when I need to use the usb for something like recording but generally its tiny cheap and works well.

Sam, it's empty. It has a little dribble in the bottom which I spilled on the table at loadout.

Most bands pretty much dislike playing the 'downs'.  90 dBa SPL limits. load in/out hassle, low pay, 1099 issued, & weeks to get paid.

Some will cancel if they get a higher paying gig and not even care if they get delisted.

Even the the new event room is a major stupid load in/load out.

It's a far cry from my great experience with them when they first started doing live entertainment.

The Littlite LED lamps are awesome, but expensive. I use them at my day job and they're great. The beam is plenty wide and lights up a large area, and the light color is a lot less blue than the Hosa's (as if that matters at all).  You get what you pay for, I think.

Agreed. The OP wanted a "good light". Get the right tool for the job. The Littlite LEDs are great lights and industry standard. They fit the desk's BNC socket and they are sturdy.

If you're up for a DIY project then I wrote about my new desk lamp over on the Blue Room a while ago;
http://www.blue-room.org.uk/index.php?showtopic=55631

It's still going strong and gives a nice, completely dimmable, coverage over the whole desk surface, with mixable red or white light to give "night running" or "flipping bright" depending on what you need.
