SI Expression road case
« on: December 11, 2013, 10:03:14 pm »

Hi everybody,

I just purchased an SI Expression 32ch. Looking for a good case to store and transport it in. Dog house and wheels would be a nice feature to have, but not a deal breaker.

What are some of the cases you guys are using fo your SI?

Thanks

of all things, was over at BanjoCenter yesterday- they had that 32ch in the Gator X32 case. Nice fit and if you twisted their arm you could get last month's $469 price just went up to $529

I don't know where you are located, but I had mine built for me by Get Off My Case in Pittsburgh for about half the price of that Gator case.  Mine is pretty basic, no dog house, wheels but you can get that.  Call Hank 724 758 9612

If you don't mind spending some time doing some fab work, you can probably get this one for $250:

I have that Gator case for an Si Ex3, first case had the bottom brace for the doghouse inserted completely off and the staples were exposed, as well as having a couple of foam pieces fall off the nose cone and upper lid.

I returned it to GC and the replacement was better, but then:

1.  One of the casters did not align at first, but with a fair amount of torquing, I managed to get it installed.

2.  The foam on the tray along the sides of the console do not hug it completely along it's length, leaving thin wedge-shaped areas where the foam diverges from the console from back to front (I have photos if anyone wants them).

When the nose cone is installed and the top cover fastened, I don't perceive any rattling indicative of a loose console, but the questionable fit as well as the weight (at 104 pounds, it's 12 pounds heavier than my much larger GB8-40 case by Jan-Al cases) makes that $500 price a bit hard to justify.

FWIW, Forum member Marty America has a "lift-it-out-to -use-it" case for sale.  He had it built for his StudioLive 24 channel Presonus.  Contact him directly as I don't think he's listed it here, only locally on CraigsList.

Shoot him a PM if you're curious.

WOW, that's one heavy case at 98lbs.

Yes, the main reason why I didn't get it was due to the weight too.
