As a singing drummer I decided to try a headset mic, despite the derision and negativity expressed by many other singing drummers .  I went in cheap and bought a Shure WH20.  Didn't sound too bad either, and I loved the freedom it gave me, to play without having to think about where my mouth should be for the next line. 
Torn between the Shure Beta 54 and the DPA 4088, I eventually settled on the DPA.  It's pretty good, rejection not quite as good as I'd hoped, but sounds nice for such a small capsule.
I've been using it as a direct plug in XLR, but I also do some compere/singer work and I want to now use it for that, go wireless.  I've used a Shure Beta 58 cordless handheld for many years.
I was just about to go with a Sennheiser EW172, but was advised that the Electrovoice RE2 might be a better choice for me.
Anyone have any experience and advice to pass on to me on this?  I'm open to suggestions.

Line 6 XD-75. Sounds good at the right price and you can use the DAD6010 adapter for Shure.

Yes, just one channel.
Great tip thanks.  Haven't heard of them.  Looks really interesting.  Not easy to source in Australia, but possible.

Sennheiser EW100 is a great choice, unless you don't mind spending more.  Shure QLX-D is what I would go with, I'd steer clear of other budget analog and any brand 2.4GHz digital.

The QLX-D is outside of my budget unfortunately.  Only just released here.

Bad experience, especially around video gear.  Sometimes it works well, sometimes it doesn't, for a system that is used at more than one venue why risk it. 

If you demo some first, make sure it is somewhere with a lot of Wi-Fi and smart phones.

Disappointment almost every time I've used these systems, and not limited to any particular brand.

I've come full circle, started with the Sennheiser, all things considered I think I'll go with that.

Not to pile on to what has already been very well stated...

But the biggest issue i see with 2.4GHZ stuff is that the only time you'll actually know for sure it will work is AFTER the audience shows up, i.e. During The Freakin' Show.  And it's a little too late to find out then....
