Simon and Garfunkel -dual mics
« on: December 04, 2013, 02:01:34 AM »

Hey guys,

I watched a documentary a while back on S & G and in multiple shows they were mic'd in a way I'm not familiar with, both Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel had a LDC and (what I'd assume is) a dynamic mic next to it but I've never seen them like that, right next to each other. Was the LDC maybe being used for recording and the dynamic for the house PA?

You can see what I'm talking about in this clip: http://youtu.be/3mXSo1JtJqs

Probably.
Looks like Garfunkel was on the SM 53 (or 54) through the PA for the first verse,  but when Simon came in for the second he started singing in to his LDC, rather than the SM 53, hence the "where's my mic" complaint.

Thanks Art, I was wondering about the "where's my mic" comment since I seemed to be able to hear him just fine.
