This looks interesting - anybody have any thoughts? also do you think it will be better than the 260?

I think it is mainly the PA with easier setup via an iPad.....(at least that is what a quick perusal of it looked like)

I dug a bit but it was hard to find specifics on delay times it can handle. That has been one of the biggest issues we have had with the PA vs. 260 decision.

Maybe they have more info on line now?

That's kind of what I thought- the Ipad functionality sounds good but I think the routing capabilities of the 260 are probably still better- I wish they were introducing a 260a with ipad remote.  I'm currently using the beringer dcx2496- and want the 260 for my Jbl Srx set up.

I'll withhold final judgment until the full specs for the PA2 are out, but assuming it is what I think it is, there won't be the level of flexibility that the 260 and greater have.  This is one of the more puzzling omissions - the 260 is I think 13 years old now, and not particularly competitive.  Not sure why been this long with still no announced replacement.

Yeah, I'd like to see an AES input on the 260.

Anybody have anything new to say about this piece of gear? Im wondering if it would be a worthy upgrade from the PA+. Anybody with real world usage of both for comparison?

It looks really good so far.
The iPad is pretty good.

Although I haven't the opportunity to take mine out of the box yet, the interface looks awesome.  I'm also looking forward to no more pink noise.

Tom, is that because you want OSU orange noise?

Now that was just totally uncalled for.

 :)

I suppose Crimson & Cream noise was too big of a request.

I consider the DR260 the most common DSP on the market and the minimum DSP I'll use on any system. My monitor, front and side fill racks use them.

They've been dropping in price on ebay lately, they used to run around $600 but can now be had for 4~5 hundred.

I'll bet that Harmon hasn't changed or discontinued it because of it's popularity. I'll also speculate that as Harmon has consolidated brand manufacturing, their cost per unit has gone down over the years so their profit per unit has gone up. Why change a winning formula?

I'd venture a guess to say its next on the block for discontinuation or a MAJOR upgrade.  Harman doesn't care a lick about what they sell for on the used market.  What they do care about (on the bean-counter side, at least) is accurately forecasting a sales quota and hitting it because that's what corporate bean-counters do.  On the R&D, techie, support side they need to reposition it in the market and reclaim some of the ground they've lost to other brands.  Imagine if they had an update just to the interface and connectivity features alone without touching anything else and the street price for a new one was about $599.00.  Think they'd sell a few?

That was my guess as well. Use a "new" product as a test bed for new features before adapting them into your flagship products to be sure they're solid. Dropping the 260 seems like a really bad idea unless they subsequently re-release it as a "new" product or give it a complete overhaul.

Has anyone else had problems with the new DR PA2 RTA mic not working? DBX tech support says they have never seen this problem before.

It was my understanding that the RTA setup on any of them was more of a hassle than a help. Better off to use a standalone tuning setup and input manually then tweak to taste.

I have had mine freeze up once and continually increase the volume of the test tone into mic clipping. Due to shortage of time i did everything manually, but since then its behaved liked it should, i use my MacBook and my iPhone (wish they would make an actual iPhone version for easier use and viewing vs use the same user interface for all devices). Other than that one hiccup its worked flawlessly and the RTA is definitely an improvement over the PA+ i would say its worth the upgrade for that alone. Anybody else have any experience or tips or tricks with the PA2?
