Attachment Problems?
« on: November 24, 2013, 11:39:18 pm »

Just got a strange error message while trying to post a screen grab. It was in the .PNG format(which I've use many times before) and I got the attached error message. Have you changed the policy on image formats? I don't guess it matters too much as it's easy to convert to a .JPG, but I was just wondering.

Sorry I missed this. SMF performs security checks to prevent risks like embedded javascript being uploaded. While in all likelihood there is no fault with your PNG image, I have seen SMF reject images for various reasons, including a broader colorspace than one gets with a "Saved for Web" JPG. I recommend then running your screen cap through Photoshop and saving for web and devices, or a similar program, to prevent this happening. There's a discussion of this issue in this subforum from 2011.

Thanks for the reply. I haven't had any more issues since; I can't even remember now what I did that could have been weird. Anyway have a happy New Year.

I have this exact problem.  I use Gimp under Linux for 99% of my photo editing and this is the only place I have problems.  I have given up trying to figure out what your forum wants.  I need to know the EXACT file format that will be accepted.
I will try to find the old discussion but I have not been having any luck.

Other than the low resolution, what is the problem with your test post?

Attached is a 50k jpeg of a sunset done with my phone.
