If locking automation is only available on a Pro1 then it really should not be in the release notes on the other desks.

I'm curious what "DL251/DL252 support for Marvell switch" means, and also what "Recovery System for Pro 3/6/9 is"

Strange to release new features, without instructions on how to use them.

I also noticed a bug with the new GEQ reset. PM me for info.

Dear Arni,

Sorry about any confusion with the release notes. Our guys in Manchester are diligently working on the PROX for release, so some of the notes were left unanswered.

The Lock out function is activated by typing "'lockdown" in the Admin password, then to unlock, type "lockdown" again.

I will check with the software gentlemen about the Marvell switch, which I believe relates to the updating of the 48k  capable I/O boxes with out a desk inline.

The Recovery system is for our CARE department only. The recovery system will allow our team to do a full system and application restore via a flash drive. This is not something for the end user to do on their own, but available when needed. You would have to contact one of our CARE PROF people to assist, and see if this is a option for your situation.

Please feel free to contact any of us via the www.midasconsoles.com web or you can send a direct email to me for assistance as well.

Hope this helps.

I don't know why the even bothered to add that function, you can easily flatten an EQ in the Graphic section but there is not a fast and easy way to reset individual faders afaik.

Exactly! I don't want to reset a section, I want to reset individual faders like you say. This feature is available on most professional sound consoles, why the hell not on Midas? This 'feature' just feels like a cop out of fixing the issue properly.

EDIT: Just tested this feature out on my PRO 1 on the master bus, when I use this feature on a GEQ section it only does it on the channel I have selected, eventhough the left and Right are linked e.g. Select the left channel and go to GEQ on the faders, slide faders to where I want and both Left and Right GEQ's are linked and move together. Reset one section and only the left channel flattens, to do the same with the right channel, I have to go out of GEQ mode, select the Right channel and reset it...

Hello Liam,

With the release of PROX into market scheduled for December or January, the RnD team is working on another firmware release to coincide. The Linux programming in the MIDAS PRO series desks is more involved than standard windows based systems.

Our end users drive what we provide. If anyone has suggestions how the operation, or firmware needs to be tackled contact us on the MIDAS consoles website, and we are sure to reply and push these ideas along to the proper staff. We don't know what users want until it is not the operation they wanted or expected and it shows up in a forum post. So, please, feel free to reach out. We are here for you.

My direct email is [email protected]

Thank you for your inquiries and posts.

Hmmnn....Linux is an OS as is Windows.  Neither are a programming language.  Some languages are cross platform.  I suspect the reason for a perception in difficulty is a development environment issue and a Windows centric management team.

On the economic side *nix is elegant, powerful and reasonably consistent.  Once you get over command prompt itis I have never seen anyone go back.  Good *nix programmers are few and far between.   Average I have never seen.  Its either ace or sucks.

Average windows programmers are a dime a dozen.

Thats all I got.

He didn't say that linux is a language. I interpret his statement to mean the programming environment.

I'd suspect that they have their own kernel drivers and a linux kernel that is tweaked for rtos and therefor the overall programming is more low-level and 'involved'.

Correct of course.  The Penguin vs.  The one without a mascot will go on forever. Having windows running the system processes of a console is somewhat unnerving but not as much as in the past.  Done right each has there own merits

Isn't there some console(s) that runs windows-ce or similar?

There's quite a few consoles that run Windows embedded which i believe is a stripped down version of xp..
  List in no particular order:
Avid
Digico
Souncraft Vi series(not sure about the Vi3000 though.)
