Hey all, Anyone upgraded to OSX Mavericks yet? Wondering if anyone has run into any upgrade issues, or software incompatibilities. ThanksSteven
To quote the developer of a well known piece of Mac OS based show software " it is not advisable to update a show machine to .0 OS software. Always wait for .1 or even .2 " Mavericks may well be a fun toy but its months yet before its a professional tool.
I agree, but unfortunately all new macbook pros come with 10.9 pre installed and back dating is usually not an option (at least it wasn't with the last generation). I have been testing all day and haven't run into anything I use regularly not functioning properly. - VMware Fusion 6 - Smaart V18.104.22.168- Microsoft Office for Mac 2011- Omni Suite- Logic Pro XWill continue running through things over the next couple days and keep this thread updated.
After going to the DUC to see how many people were already complaining about Mavericks support, there's a huge DON'T DO IT posted by Avid. 10.9 breaks certain things, and I'm happy on ML 10.8.5 with Pro Tools 11.0.2 so no rush. My favorite quote from Chris Randall, head of Audio Damage (plugin/instrument maker) http://www.analogindustries.com and a man not afraid to express his own opinion…"So, spotty, basically. If you want to dick around with crashes and strange performance, and some plugs not working, by all means, update. If you have a show coming up, or are in the middle of a project, and you update, you're stupid, and I don't want to be your friend. You deserve all the problems you're having."
I'm kinda surprised(maybe I shouldn't be)
I'm not.But it does suck because I need to upgrade our 7 year old original Mac Pro so I can upgrade to PT 11, and QLab 3. Those are my two killer aps that I need to work. Unfortunately, both of those pieces of software won't run on our current Mac Pro, so I need to buy a new machine, but when I do that, Protools and QLab 3 may not work. I'm stuck in upgrade limbo right now.
