Tuning for Dummies?
I was making an observation about the physics and complexity of vibration modes in membranophones (drums), compared to simple string or wind instruments where the overtones travel over the same length path as the fundamentals so are even harmonic multiples that voice the same note, just in a higher octave. Overtones in round drumheads do not travel along the same path length so do not fall on musically related ratios.
I didn't mean to offend with the "dummies" link.
The quoted line about a "Wavy Non-Homogeneous Circular Membrane" was an attempt to indicate the real complexity of a drumhead; far beyond my ability.
