Crank stands?
« on: October 16, 2013, 02:53:00 PM »

Who makes a decent crank up stand? Manfrotto's seem nice but are a bit pricey & heavy. I've looked at American DJ crank ups and they were complete junk... whats available in between?
I'll be using them mostly to support bars of four LED pars but the ability to do a twenty foot span of truss would be nice.

Thanks for your input
Cheers!

No experience with those, but the Global Truss ST-132s are a great value and pretty decent, if they have enough weight capacity for you.

I'd also recommend the Global Truss ST-132s.  They're weight capacity isn't as high as I'd personally like, but then again they are a lot more portable than the larger models and are priced appropriately.  Their upper mast is 1 3/8" diameter, so make sure your other trussing hardware can accommodate that.  I also own a pair of Odyssey LTP8-Pro crank stands.  These are nice in that they use a gearing mechanism to raise and lower versus the winch and cable, but I do stress that these are light duty only!  They too have an 1 3/8" diameter upper mast.

Hope this helps!

So I ordered 4 of these... used em for a few shows. They seemed well made and I was happy with them.
Today I received an e-mail from the Canadian distributer informing me that they have been recalled by the manufacturer! Yikes!
No info as to why and I've got the fun of packing them back up and shipping them off to look forward to but at least there was no disaster on my end.
I hope they will issue replacements or a refund ASAP.

Please keep us posted.

It all resolved itself just before the holidays. I don't have to pack & ship. I'm happy.
