The boxes look the same to me. What differences are you talking about? I'll bet most of us here have used subs together very much different than 618's and 718's. I think you are exaggerating the potentially negative results.
...Most DSP processing today is measured in micro-seconds .... sometimes very low mSecs....
For those reading along, and I'm sure Scott didn't mean to mislead anyone, mSec = milliseconds, uSec = microseconds.
Looking the same and being the same are often two entirely different things. My point is to measure, evaluate, and correct (if necessary) before using a mis-matched system in the heat of battle. You'd be surprised at how many matched sub systems have been damaged from misdeployment through the years, so the thought of a mis-matched system being an issue is not a stretch. Of course, you're welcome to do what you want with your own equipment. Personally, I wouldn't let you touch any of mine.
Aw, come on, I'll let you touch mine if you let me touch yours.
Anyway, I did call JBL tech support to get their take on the subject and they verified that the 618's and 718's will play together nicely.Oh, he did mention that it could cause a warp in the time/space continuim, destroying all known matter, but I didn't think that was a big deal as long as I could get more low end.
