So is it worth it to spend the money on something really fancy like RunOne

http://www.gepco.com/products/proav_cable/runone/runone_touring_M.htm

Or can I save money and just gaff tape my 14/3 SJOOW power and Canare XLR together?

Got a quote for 25' of RunOne Touring with PowerCon and XLR and it was about $250 shipped. Sure, it's shielded and all but ouch!

Having it all in one cable will make for a cleaner setup, as it's just one cable.  However, if something goes wrong in the cable, you either have to have spares, or spare parts available.  ie, if one of the XLRs gets damaged, then you either run a separate XLR, or replace the whole cable.

Gaff taping cables together is a temporary solution, but will result in a gooey mess eventually.  It can also be more difficult to wrap cables when they are 2 taped together. Personally, I'd stick with 2 separate cables and deal with that.

If you must have a Siamese cable check CBI's offering.

I don't consider Siamese worth the price or effort.  When packing the power cable goes with the speakers and the XLR goes in the case with it's brothers.

John,

Been in the same place. Same questions.

After looking at the costs and deciding the Siamese cable was too expensive until more cable companies jump on the bandwagon and bring the price down.

Tape is definitely cheep but will become a mess.

I fell back to cable ties. Won't fall off, won't get messy, works for me...

A good 12/3 extension cable with a heavy duty mic cord. We made them up in 25', 50' and 100' lines.

We also made some up with orange molded cords to keep electrical inspectors happy.
