I'm wondering what by eaw or any other brand would have a box that compares to an kf850 in volume and sound but smaller in size and weight to be flown or ground stacked. Thinking a kf650 but I'm wondering what else is out there. I'm guessing with all the improvements over the years there has to be something new on the market.
I just feel the 850s can take up a lot of space when in transit.
Thanks
How much are you looking to spend? d&b C series, EV X-array(XCN), and Nexo Alpha are all high output cubes. Smaller, lighter, louder(arguably better sounding). I've never had a good show on KF750's, so unlike Tim, I cannot recommend them.
My first pick would be the d&b C series. 3 C4 Top, 3 C4 sub, and 3 B2's per side would kick some serious ass.
The KF650 is always a solid box- and the "z" model when properly processed and powered can pretty much run with the 850 from 120hz up. The Community SLS stuff is also good, but I would see either of these choices as a sideways step. The only really positive thing about the SLS stuff is that you can run them passive and the SQ/output is still fantastic. I run 2 SLS960 per channel of a QSC PL6.0 and have yet to see the limiters in the rig. The subs run out of gas well before the tops.
The JBL STX is also a nice choice, but I don't think it has the output to keep up with an 850, and it will not array as nicely.
