Background music sources
« on: March 18, 2013, 09:41:41 am »

Hello everyone,

My venue would like to have 5 or so different types of background music available in our various public places.  Its easy enough for me to setup the switching of sources, inputs/outputs, etc through my system DSP, but I need something to provide the background music.  Does anyone have a recommendation for something that could provide 5 different programs (24/7) and a source for the actual music?

Are you looking for a background music service like Muzak or DMX?  There is also Pandora, XM and Sirius for businesses.  Or are you thinking of putting together your own content and playlists?

Five different sources for five different areas at the same time of just five different sources to select from? If it's the latter then Muzak/DMX can provide that with a single receiver- just change the channels. For the latter use five receivers and keep each on a specific channel.

I need 5 different sources always available so I can have the staff working an event chose what ever source they want. So perhaps Jazz in the bathrooms, classical in the reception hall, and heavy metal in the lobby.

I am trying to avoid using 5 receivers.  I'm looking for both the hardware for the playback, as well as a source for the music.  DMX looks like a good solution for the music.  Is there anyway to play multiple channels without multiple receivers?

The DMX Pro Fusion XS player can provide four zones. The Pro Fusion is an internet based platform meaning no dish. Plug it into your network and go.
