« on: March 12, 2013, 02:18:40 am »

Looking for some reviews and thoughts regarding one or both of the listed speakers.
Not much out there, even google land.

Thanks

I have heard the 818, which uses the 2242H driver. I own and use the same driver in a pair of subs that sit beside a number of SRX-718s in the system. I wasn't surprized at all when I heard the 818 at all. Great sub, every bit as good as the 718, same power compression, slightly lower and tighter bass response.

I have no experience with the 812 but expect the results would be similar.

I've heard the 828 and the 815, I pretty much concur with Bob on the 828. In my opinion, the SRX line was such a good performer (we've got around 30 boxes of it and it has never let us down) that the STX is just kind of a sideways step in most cases. Guys that own SRX probably aren't going to be selling their rigs at a loss to get the STX boxes.

We got 16 712M from the last batch made and considered ourselves lucky.

We've got 8 (orange badge models), we've already gotten offers on them.

Is there an "orange badge" and "black grille" model? Any very relevant differences?

The difference is that the orange badge has been removed revealing the black badge pressed into the grill underneath it.

There's a review in the Lab Lounge-- http://forums.prosoundweb.com/index.php/topic,140125

I've got a pair of the STX812Ms and really like them. I used them on a gig, powered stereo from an XTi-4000 (I was worried that wouldn't be enough given the 712M's desire for more power) and they sounded great. They were used for stage monitors for a drag performer (who always want the music LOUD!) and no complaints whatsoever.

I just ordered a STX815M, with the 2nd soon to follow. I have all of the boxes in 700 series (except 738) and really like them. I'm sure the new series will enjoy the same success as the 700series. The price of the 800 series is another story.
