How long is the pathway of an LA400? I seriously doubt that delay will be an issue...

Horns are not ideal because of the natural delay in the cabinet.. not good for DJ monitors

Are you building Texas headphones or mains?

Better never run DJ monitors through a digital board and/or a digital speaker processor then.

The difference between 2 tracks becomes pretty noticeable at about 10ms spacing.

The human brain is an amazing thing and I can only assume automagically corrects for artists up to 10ms or so. Beyond that I have experience complaints from major artists at various times. This pretty much falls in line with most of the big rig monitors systems we use (dv-dosc, arcs, etc). Delay to artist is usually right up to but not exceeding 5ms. (including the 3 foot gap between the artist and the speaker)

So in a nutshell the OP asks for a direct radiator for a reason.

Yes these are for budget texas headphones for 'club level' stuff where they will only be used twice a month. The tops are EAW NT59's if you must know with a dolby lake available for the proc duties.

Speaker processor latency is something you can't get past.. but that is EXACTLY the reason why all high end DJ riders say "DIRECT INPUT FROM DJ MIXER TO MONITOR SYSTEM... NO CONSOLES ALLOWED"

We wrote the book for a lot of the things you see....

Spenser, thanks for sharing that link.  It was a useful article in latency effects, insightful on IEM implications,...

Hi Jeff,

I don't know if this would be an option;

Peavey QW-4, the box can be run full range and we many times use just QW-4s when the QW-218s are not needed.

It is very clear down to 50Hz or so.

That may be an option.

Regards,  John
