RCF NX 10-sma vs QSC K12 for wedge monitor
« on: February 12, 2013, 08:44:20 PM »

Would picking up a used RCF NX 10-sma for around $800 be worth the extra few hundred for a wedge floor monitor versus a QSC K10?

The RCF seems to be a little more compact, and space is always very tight for our gigs.

The RCF is a 60x60 horn. if you stand rooted in one spot it's for you, if you move to the side of the speaker in your performance the 90 degree coverage of the K-10 will be beneficial.

The wider pattern of the K10 also means more bleed between monitors,...

Not to mention the coxial design of the NX-SMA will reduce phasing issues in the nearfield (ie: where monitors do their work).

How loud does the monitor need to be? I haven't heard the QSC 10 but I have some Yamaha DSR112 that shred as monitors. These can be had at just over $700. And there is also this, which I just posted above on another monitor thread:
