ESA Event Safety Guide
« on: February 08, 2013, 06:58:30 PM »

I’d like to strongly encourage everyone to take a look at the public review draft of the Event Safety Guide being developed by the Event Safety Alliance.  A free copy is available to anyone who registers on the website http://www.eventsafetyalliance.org/Home.aspx.

[Edit]
For those of you unfamiliar with the document, here’s a link to FOH Online discussing the safety guide: http://www.fohonline.com/news/7539-event-safety-alliance-to-debut-north-america-event-safety-guide-at-event-live-expo.html

And here’s an article from PLSN about the Event Safety Alliance: http://www.plsn.com/news/21-news/9048-event-safety-alliance-to-meet-april-23-with-indiana-safety-officials.html
[Edit]

I am very excited about this document, and would love to hear your opinions on its merits and shortcomings.  I am trying to spread the word about the Safety Guide, but I do not work for the ESA.

This is my first post to the Lab, so a little introduction:
I’m currently working as a freelance production manager and designer for theatrical events in the Southern California area.  I have a fair amount of professional concert experience and tend to be a very hands-on, ride-the-faders type mix engineer.

Thanks,

-kirk

FWIW, I don't give out my name and email address to an unknown 'organization'.  The doc may be great, and the cause is certainly just, but I'll never 'join' with a blind invitation.

Hey Kirk, welcome to The LAB!

Maybe you can post the text for us so we won't need to register.

Hey guys,
I understand that you’re cautious toward a newcomer.  I’m a little uncomfortable posting the document without permission, but I’ll try to give some credibility to the organization.

Let me know if this still looks bogus to you, and I’ll try to obtain permission to host the file.
