This is horrible and should just never happen.

Sounds kinda like the Great White-Station fire all over.

Flames and certain materials don't mix.

Agreed-tragic.

What is it with fire and performance?  Isn't the music enough? Silly question.

So sad and unnecessary.

BAd stuff all around, a tragedy. The latest reports have the band using a "spark" machine that malfunctioned. They were handed a fire extinguisher that didn't work. The part I don't understand is that only one door was open.

Probably the same reason many clubs do-so that they can control who comes in and out.  And they don't want somebody on the inside opening the door and letting their friends in.

The same reason flammable acoustic treatments are used-to same MONEY.

It is interesting to note that with 2" fiberglass acoustic panels-the fire retardant cloth cost more than the actual fiberglass-that does the work.

Sure you could use cheaper cloth-but it would burn.  It depends on priorities.

The part I don't understand is that only one door was open.

NO door was opened.  They were afraid people would skip the check!

Horrible, horrible stuff.  Piles of dead people right inside the main door.  Fire crews smashed their way through the walls, but too late for so many.

Edit:  Also, expired license, run way over capacity, etc.

I was talking to a close friend who retired as a fire fighter.  He told me that many times they find
people frozen in time holding hands at dinner tables, people in many situations who have been hit
with smoke so thick and deadly that they are killed instantly and they find them not burned but
almost like they were frozen right there instantly.   As an example in a nice eating place people will be
still sitting at the table as if they were eating and talking and some couples holding hands as if
it was instant and they never even knew what hit them.  I found that amazing.
