The Apogee Rosetta 800 has AES and optical digital connections (as well as A/D/A converters).  With proper termination, you could use the AES inputs for SPDIF.  However, unless you get a deal on one, it's worth as much as an 01V96.  :(

Perfect solution:

A rack mount box that accepts 4x SPDIF stereo inputs and outputs them on a single ADAT optical connection.

I would rather not kludge stuff together to accomplish this; is there anything out there that solves this neatly?
