Goodbye ol' Paint......
« on: January 23, 2013, 05:16:32 pm »

......you've been a good friend through the years and never let me down.

Just sold my MixWiz 16:2DX, my first "real" mixer.  That leaves me with a Venice 320, a GL2000:24, a MixWiz 14:4:2, an old Yamaha 8 channel with VU meters and a half-dozen "mix pads"......as well as a StudioLive 24.

It's time to down-size and the Wiz had become redundant, riding in the trailer as a spare and working one or two rough-and-tumble outdoor gigs in the colder weather.  It needed to have a new home where it would be of more use, but it was sad to see such a reliable "old friend" leave the stable.

If it found a good home to make more music all is well.

Are you allowed visitation rights? That should help a bit.

Mr. Rees, I do hope you whipped out your sharpie and signed this cherished piece of equipment.  Remember that provenance is very important.

Did you perchance include a certificate of authenticity?  Perhaps jot down a few fond episodes with it.  Perhaps the time you had to react quickly to protect the mixer from the "oopsy" from the Titianesque babe bearing the frozen KiwiCollada. (Hasn't that happened to everyone, at least once"

It was modular, I could have saved it.

It wasn't fully scavenged yet!  The electro-buzzards had only begun to circle overhead...

The real story is that another console manufacturer was offering a 'trade in' deal on old, large frame consoles.  Shipping this DDA would have negated a lot of the trade in value so they offered the allowance if Chip would prove the destruction of the old desk.  The tongue in cheek Requiem video is the result.

I can honestly say that it was never used to mix a band in a bar...........because the only bars I ever mixed in had a house systems.

Most illuminating!  but it's hard to to rationalize videography cost, editing, heavy equipment rental, manhours for that large of a crew, plus any other associated expenses wouldn't exceed the approx $500 truck ship to half way across the US... maybe it required overseas shipping?

In any event thanks for the entertainment!

This is what happens when the video guys spend too much time with audio guys (in the presence of adult beverages), and the equipment rental yard is down the street.
