How about the Klark DN716 delay? I picked one up on eBay for $80 bucks a while back. I haven't used it yet but my intention was to have it if I ever needed delay stacks.

I need a delay (stereo) for some delay stacks. I need at least 1 second (will probably use 200-500ms per side). I could just buy a DriveRack 260 and get a bunch of other stuff that I *might* use once in a while; just wonder if there is a better choice.

FWIW, I'm driving some PRX 625 speakers. They're being used for a "movie nite" rig to provide audio for the movies shown on large lawns. Mains stack is PRX 625 plus subs (currently Mpro 415, but will probably be PRX 618s XLR by the time I put in the delay stacks; note that there will not be subs at the delay positions). The main stacks are about 50-75' apart (don't have to worry about comb filtering so much); what I'm really trying to do is get the volume down near the screen but still allow people to hear the movie at 200-250' out.

Unit should be stand-alone. I've got a tiny 4-channel Behringer mixer with a mic and a DVD player plugged into it. In the past this has fed a couple XTi 4000 amps (and Mpro 225/418s speakers). Now it's going to feed a pair of PRX 625/618s XLF plus a couple line 6 transmitters (which feed the delay stacks).

Thanks,
Randy Hyde

I would buy a Yamaha 01v (original, silver front) and use that to replace both the tiny mixer you are using as well as giving you delays and a bunch of other stuff :)

I see your point from a "get a better mixer" POV, but I've got other digital rigs (SAC-based) for the "real" sound stuff. I just need to provide a mic and DVD-player input for this system. The extra size, weight, and fragility of the Yamaha 01v would be a big negative for this application. A $29 mixer (yeah, that's what it cost) works *fine* for this particular application.

The Rane looks very interesting to me.
I may go ahead and get the DBX DR260 simply because I use three of them as DSPs for the monitors in my "A" rig and having an extra one laying around might be useful if I ever need a temporary expansion to more than six wedges. OTOH, I'd probably use PRX 615 cabinets if I had to go that route (currently, my monitor wedges are bi-amped SRX 712m cabinets).

Nevertheless, the Rane does look interesting and the advantage of *not* using a DR260 for this application is that I'd never be tempted to pull it out of the movie system. And I'm trying real hard to completely separate my rigs so I'm not constantly pulling one piece of gear out of one rig to handle some situation and then having to replace that gear later on (I don't know how many rack screws I've stripped over the years...).
Cheers,

I bought a used 01v for a backup board.
Only paid $350.  Might be worth looking around!
I'm sure it's more robust than a $29 mixer
And it would eliminate having to carry and patch a separate delay processor.

Sure, as a mixer.
But I don't have the space for such a device in my movie rig...
Not generally a big fan of Behringer gear; but the little mixer I use in the movie rig is perfect and for this application no one cares about the name. Have had one power supply die on me (the connector broke). It was actually cheaper to buy a new mixer for the power supply than to get the power supply fixed :)

... the little mixer I use in the movie rig is perfect

Except that it lacks a feature crucial to the task at hand ;)

Give it up. A Yamaha 0v1 is *completely* inappropriate for this application.
A 1U delay unit would mount just fine in the case I put my DVD player and B* mixer into. The 0v1 *just won't work* no matter how cool and cheap you think the solution might be.
I can't believe I haven't made that clear up to this point. If not, consider this making that point clear.

FWIW, my current rig (pre-PRX cabinets) has a DRPA installed; installing a Rane or DR260 unit will simply replace the unit that is already there.
