I would agree. Dont buy jrx. If you reallly need to go for it. Why not just add another speakon connector on the jrx box instead of y connectors. Or buy the Yamaha s. Its done for you.

Thank you everyone for the great advice.

Since everyone said JRX are really bad, I have dropped those from the plan.

The JBL PRX 400 series are not that much more and look like they would be better quality so I am thinking of those, because they are JBL and I can get them on Amazon. Probably the 412 to start.

I will see what those have for connectors before deciding what to do. I like being able to add additional speakers to a channel without too much hassle.

What I am trying to do is just put together a good home system. I like quality sound. Typical home equipment seems lacking.

The only thing in the pro sphere that I wish I could find would be a reasonably priced yet good three way speaker. Everything JBL makes is two way unless you want to go all the way to STX.

Many thanks again.

Avraam,

I consider the home a "critical listening" environment - that is, you need a very low self-noise floor.  I don't think SR loudspeakers are the best way to go for your endeavor…

Similar threads have come up in the past…if you take a look around here at more-current posts, as well as archived posts, I think you'll come up with some good options.

If you want good home theather go to best buy...

Or buy some studio monitors. Krk..or whatever. Even m audio. But really acoustic treatment would play a bigger role.

I agree with the other responders.  Pro audio gear - especially at the low end of the pricing scale - is a poor choice for home audio.  Pro speakers trade off volume for sound quality; exactly the opposite of what you want in your home.

A pair of studio monitors would be a better choice.

As TJ (Tom) Cornish mentioned.... if you were to consider going the powered route, the JBL PRX635 is a 3 way cabinet.

Indeed.  Pro audio is the WRONG choice.....unless you live in a barn, and a large one at that.

What you're looking for are usually termed "studio" or "near field" speakers, ones designed to sound really optimum close up, hence the "near field".

I agree wit the others here. You don't want these cabs in our house unless you are living in a dorm. Then go ahead.

If you are set on a non-standard approach to home theatre, ou can easily find studio monitors that will be plenty loud and sound great in your space. Search craigslist for Tannoy, Blue Sky, Genelec, or on the cheaper end KRK, Yamaha, and Fostex.

Crap, for what you would spend on buying MRX4xx cabs you could go to a real stereo shop and get some halfway decent HT speakers. Once you get out of the best buy/wal mart brands you will find some really nice stuff.

I thought I was the coolest kid in college with a stereo SRX stack flanking my 32" tube.

Why not just add another speakon connector on the jrx box instead of y connectors.

+1. Avoid unusual adapters/cables whenever possible.  Add Speakons to any cabinet with only one set.
