Presonus 16:4:2 - Anybody have any experience w/ this?
« on: January 29, 2013, 05:57:17 PM »

I am seriously considering the 16:4:2 for my home/small club system.
was curious if anybody has used this and what they think of it.
Thanks!

I have been using one for about 7 months.  I love it!  It has been totally reliable and has made my life a lot easier.  If you need a lot of advanced routing options or more than 6 auxes, there are better choices.  But, if it meets your needs, I think it is the quickest and easiest to use digital board available for live use.

I like it OK.  Never a failure at a show with 1 1/2 years on it, although it was sensitive to a bad power situation at one gig (the power was so horrible, I don't think any rig would've performed well).  If the Behringer X32 were out when I bought the 16:4:2, I likely would've gone with it instead - I am running out of channels and the X32 has a more robust feature set.

I bought one used, used it myself for a year and a half, then sold it to another Forum member.  As far as I know, it's still ticking over just fine.

I have a couple of the 16 channel and a couple of the 24 channel Presonus boards. They get beat a bit at county fairs in the summer and rentals the rest of the year.

So far no problems. Easy to use. Sound good.

I'm kinda looking forward to the 32 channel version. A little easier to connect to via wifi and a few more channels.

I do keep them in good road cases and use a rack mounted UPS with the to keep the power issues from happening.

Any questions just ask...

Bob, if you can, go with the 24 ch.  It has full parametric EQ  where the lesser models have merely a sharp wide switch.
