Standard or Shock Rack Case
« on: January 20, 2013, 03:58:26 PM »

1. Should standard or shock cases be used for things like eq's, media players, compressors? I'm looking at table top size, 4-10U. They would not be shipped.

2. What about amp racks?

Tyler,
If you were touring extensively and concerned with more fragile hardware a shock case may be the way. For regional use standard cases of good quality are pretty much the way to go. There are many very good manufacturers to choose from. I use Road Ready and they have never let me down.

Shock cases = bigger, heavier.
EQs, compressors, go with standard.
Media player, good question (hard drive involved?).

If it ain't on wheels, I suspect I'd go with standard.
If you're transporting it personally (versus employees or, worse, union hands, who didn't pay for the gear in the rack), I'd go with standard.
Cheers,
