Gluing Plastic to Plastic (headset)
« on: December 01, 2012, 09:12:39 PM »

I broke my production director's personal Telex headset today.  This needs to be fixed tomorrow morning.

Thinking of filling the hole with super glue, thereby preventing the earpiece from swiveling.  I just need the strongest hold possible in a very small amount of surface area.

Need suggestions on which glue will work best.  Epoxy?  Regular superglue?  Any suggestions are welcome.

"JB Weld" is good if small pieces of material are missing.

There is a type of superglue made for plastic - it may be made by Loctite. One bottle is the glue and the other thing is like a marker that has an activator in it. It's the only glue I've seen work on certain kinds of plastic. I got it at Lowes.

If you have a store around that sells models they will have a 2 part glue (glue and spray activator) it works great because you can put the glue on then get the part positioned right then spray the activator and its done! I used a bunch years back and it's no big deal if you get the activator on your hands. The activator makes the glue dry almost instantly.

My wife owns a custom frame shop and is often required to find the right adhesive to glue one thing to another.  She uses this site:
