I would leave the subs at home for several reasons:

  • You are not producing any frequencies with a guitar and vocals that the K12's cant handle.
  • The Ksubs are not a very stable platform to mount K12's on
  • KISS.  No need to have a more complicated rig for your purposes.

If you have stands for all 4 K12's that is what I would do.

Even Stonehenge can be pushed over if you apply enough lateral force, (ref: National Lampoon's European vacation)

I'm picturing a four year old walking up to one of those, grabbing the pole, and hoisting himself up onto the sub. Does he go up, or does the whole thing come down?

Safety precautions are a wonderful thing... but at what point does over-concern about eventualities prevent you from doing anything at all?

I don't see the need for subs at all for this one. I'd probably bring all four K12s just because they're there ;) but you probably really only need two.

About the K12/subs as delays, I'd ratchet strap the subs together and call it a day.

That's really all it would take to make it be rock solid.

True.

In addition, I don't think Ksubs would do much outside anyway.

You'd be surprised. I did an outdoor big band concert Saturday, 500 blue hairs in the audience. Tops were a pair of EAW JF200, 12"/2".
A single KSub underneath did a beautiful job of bringing the bass and kick drum into the picture. Certainly not loud, but very satisfying.

I would not have planed on subs as delays, however as plan "B" they seemed to work fine.

The crank stands were needed for the light rig which was the other half of my area of involvement in this show.

I appreciate the comment on strapping the subs. I simply didn't think of it.
