defective lab12?
« on: July 10, 2012, 08:53:22 pm »

Cone separated from coil, breaking the wires to the coil. Spider and coil still attached.  Anyone seen this in a Lab12 or any other speaker? It happened on 2 drivers in the same cabinet.

Seen it on Eminence 15's in Danley TH 215's.
I had an 18 Sound 15 in a Danley TH 115 do the cone separating thing. Gobs of rubber cement 6 months ago and still going strong.

Thanks John. Good to know I can still save them. I'll use a CA glue to reattach the cone and solder the wires with rubber cement over those.

Due to the unusual loading the TH215 had-the Eminance driver is what worked best in that particular alignment.

The TH215 is a discontinued model however.  The TH118 is close to the other aspects (size-cost-response etc) but it outperforms the TH215.

The Th115 has always had the B&C 15TBX100 driver.  The origional drivers were 8 ohms (and sitll available)-but the standard driver is now 4 ohms.
