clicking noise when centre detent is passed
« on: June 16, 2012, 12:30:04 PM »

Hi everybody, this is my first time on here.

I'm getting a fairly loud pop when passing the centre detent on an Allen and Heath mixwizard WZ3. It's not always there and I'm wondering if anyone else has ever had this problem (on any desk)?

Thanks,

Simon

The center detent is simply a ball bearing falling into a slot in the pot shell, not related to the electrical properties of the potentiometer.  The pot might have a center tap connection on it's track but at the price point of a Mix Wizard even that isn't a sure thing.  Time to clean the pot with Cramolin.  Do a Google search for "Cleaning Potentiometers"
