Looking for inexpensive short throw projector.  Will be rear projection.

Hitachi make one I like for $1,200.  Anyone know of any other that are less expensive?

Your not likely to find anything cheaper. Most of the stuff I deal with if they are any brighter than the Hitachi you speak of the lens will cost more than the projector and way way more than 1200.00.
Sorry,

You might go used - check with the local hire companies.

Before buying anything, check availability and pricing of a replacement bulb.

If you look at http://www.projectorcentral.com/projectors.cfm?db=&br=&c=&sort=%24&mfg=&g=1&sp=14&w=&st=1&p=&ar=&dt=&sz=15&t=&hide=0&ll=&td=0&i=d&is=0&dvi=&r=&tt=0, select the "short throw" feature and then sort the results by price there are over 50 projectors under $1,200.  So what do you consider 'short throw' and are any brightness, format, resolution, image size, location relative to the image and so on acceptable or might there be some other relevant criteria or requirements?
