Segway.

+1

I remember Steve Jobs had the Segway revealed to him before it was publicly announced, and said that it would change our world as much as the personal computer did....boy, was I disappointed...

Why do people hate the 3630's? People i know either really love them or really hate them. The haters don't explain why they hate it though..

In my experience, the people who hate the 3630 are usually people who have heard similar products made by other manufacturers in environments where the differences would be most audible.

In other words, when you bring a 3630 to a punk club with half blown up SoundTech speakers powered by Gemini amplifiers, you might not hear what you hear if you were to bring it to the Performing Arts Center with the Meyer Milo rig.

I have specifically made the examples extreme to illustrate my point.

The one that comes to mind for me is the BBE Sonic Maximizer. I am still not sure what the hell it does.

Boy, you hit my #1 vote square in the face.
I let GC sell me one of these things with my very first rig many, many, years ago. Never could figure out what it does other than distort the audio. The brochure is a bunch of marketing-speak that even with two years of college physics I don't claim to understand.

At the other end of the spectrum is the SPL Transient Designer. Amazing box that doesn't get hyped up enough (though I must admit to using a plugin that does basically the same thing rather than the $1,600 box).
Cheers,

Yeah, a small car that gets good mileage and saves fuel - What a dumb idea! ::)

What's Not Hype:
Hum-X by ebtech
Although some may argue that a non-UL rated AC power device that could fail in an unsafe manner and has a 15A receptacle but is only rated at 6A is better than breaking the ground pin, but still hype.

  Hello Chuck,

I don't think that Ned was bashing the Smart Car's ability to get great gas mileage or fuel savings....

I think it was a tongue-in-cheek remark aimed at the risks of taking such a small vehicle, on some of America's roads.  (Big Semis, Fat SUVs, freeway speeds reaching 80+ miles per hour)

You are correct, sir. Fine for around town. If you've never driven in southern California, getting into a Smart car on the 405, 110 or the 5 is a bad, bad idea. Great gas mileage - but stay off the LA highways.
