Anyone got a link? I'm unfamiliar with this phone system stuff.
Thanks,

Just to clarify, the night ringer has 2 terminal screws that come out of it connected to the mixer input with a shielded 1/4" connector. No XLR on the mixer. An online search didn't yield anything that looked like it would work. Anyone?

Try a 1:1 transformer by anybody. Otherwise know as isolation transformers or hum eliminators.

A Horizon SL2 or SL3 (doesn't matter) would work fine.

Ok, question then: I have some of those Rapco Isoblox in my cable box. But they're XLR in/out. Will one of those work with adaptor cables? Doesn't seem to me like it would, but thought I'd ask.
Also Ivan, Horizon SL2 comes up as a DI box in my catalogue, and I could find a SL3 anywhere. Was there a different unit you meant?

What you have will work fine-just wire up between pins 2 and 3.  Don't hook anything to pin 1

The SL3 is the same thing as the SL2-except pin 3 is hot.

Q-Box the output of the ringer?

Is the buzz really from a power/grounding issue, or is there an internal issue with the unit?

Of course I don't have a Q-box.
Just to make sure I'm not making a stupid error....this is how things are wired.

2 solid wire from the phone system to the Bogen NR-100 night ringer.

I have a shielded cable with bare ends and a 1/4" mono jack on the other. The bare wire shield is connected to the "To Amp Input A" screw terminal, the HOT bare wire connected to "To Amp Input B". Other end of the cable has the 1/4" mono jack connected to a mixer channel.

That's really it. Not much to screw up. I tried Ivans suggestion of using an iso transformer, and made the appropriate cables with XLR's to attach to my transformer and did not connect pins 1.  I also tried tying chassis together. It did not help at all.

Since it's just a ringer, I'm almost tempted to put a cheap gate on it and call it a day. That's an expensive bandaid though.

Are those the only 2 connections available on the ringer? The terminology wouldn't lead me to connect it the way you have. I would think "amp input A" and "amp input B" are 2 different things. I would expect a ground connection somewhere for the shield, and the center conductor to go to either A or B output. If one of them is in fact ground, it has to be the one with the shield, have you tried reversing the wires? How loud is the ringer in the system? Is it possible the gain is just too high?

Yes, it seems weird to me too. You'd think they be labeled + / -
or something to that effect. I have tried reversing those wires. It makes no difference. I have the manual for the ringer, but it is not very clear on this. See...maybe I am screwing something up here.

Actually, looking at the manual here it states:

"Connect the shield from the BGM source to the same letter (A or B)terminal as the shield for the amplifier input to the AMP A & B terminals. If the amplifier inputs are balanced this precaution is not necessary. "

Night ringer has input terminals for BGM but that are unused. So it should make no difference how I connect those wires(although I did try switching them to no avail).

I don't believe the channel gain is set too high. It's a usable volume.
