E865 vs Beta87a
« on: January 21, 2009, 08:41:28 AM »

Ready to buy a batch of one of these models, your comments please. This is primarily for government events, which sometimes include vocal acts singing a few songs. So, it's not hardcore sound support, no rider issues.

This also goes for the thread I started on the E835 vs Beta87a

E865

Great sounding condenser.

I've never been a fan of the sound of the Beta 87

I am not a fan of our Beta87a wireless when used on spoken voice. It just doesn't sound "right" as compared to our Vega wireless with N/D767 heads.

However, once someone starts singing, the B87 blows away the Vega.

I use the Beta 87a and I love it. It has great feedback rejection and works great for a male singer. You will not be disappointed. One thing make sure you stay away from the FAKE Shure Mics

I've used and like them both!

That said, I think if you are going to do more "rock" stuff I think the B87 would excel at that.

For quieter stuff either would be a fine choice. I like my 865 on female vox acoustic stuff.
