Corona, California just off the I15 Freeway
« Reply #40 on: January 24, 2009, 01:53:17 AM »

Corona may be a decent beer, but it's not a city you would ever likely be working in. However, it IS on the Interstate 15 Freeway between Las Vegas and San Diego, or perhaps between parts of greater Los Angeles and San Diego or Las Vegas. In any case, you just might find yourself driving through Corona California someday and have a hankerin' for some good Italian food. If so, you really should try this place. I was shocked at how good the food was in this little restaurant in the middle of a strip mall/shopping center at the Cajalco Road exit off of the I15 in Corona. The name of it is:  New York Pizza Dept. The address is: 2279 Eagle Glen Parkway, Corona, CA. 92883
The Phone # is: 951-493-6612
(I grew up in a community in New York that was made up mostly of Italian people, so I have been exposed to a lot of good Italian food there and other places around the world, including Italy.....so I have some basis for a valid review)
I ordered the Clam Linguine, and I have NEVER seen it served anywhere like it was there. There had to be a full pound of clams on the plate! Also though, it was quite good....not just heavy on the clams. My friend raved about his Lasagne too. For desert, the Cannoli was as good as any I've had at expensive restaurants in New York City.
Try it if you get a chance!

When in Chicago, it's the hot dogs or deep dish pizza. When in Philly, it's the cheese steaks. When in Pittsburgh it's Primanti's, with fries & slaw in the sandwich. Primanti Brother's have been featured on the Travel Channel. You will see their sandwiches being made on TV sometime during all Steelers home games. They are sold at Heinz Field (football), Mellon Arena (hockey) & PNC Park (baseball).

When I'm in Pittsburgh, I always try to hit:

Primanti's in the Strip.  Just down the road from Metropol.  (Yes, yes I know Metropol is closed.)  There's actually a place that serves Primanti's style sandwiches in Chicago near Wrigley.

Tessaro's in Bloomfield.  The best burgers in the 'burgh.

Fat Head's on the Southside.  "Sandwiches as big as your head." and a decent beer selection.

Frida Mexican Grill, Downtown Madison, Wisconsin

Right across the street from the Overture Center.

I had a great meal there, as did my cast. Would return to this place if I get back to Madison. It was great, and the whole of state street was pretty awesome! Worth checking out.

Not exactly at the top of anyone's list for destinations and touring but people often pass by these towns on the way to other gigs.  (Often as quickly as possible Laughing )

Let's face it, if you're coming through Nashville there's a good chance you might be playing the Exit (AKA - Exit/In). Right across the street is one of my favorite places, The Gold Rush. Great food, Great bar, fair prices. Actually I typically always eat there when I'm doing a show at the Exit.

Toronto, ON
Breakfast:

Cora's
277 Wellington Street West.
This french-Canadian chain is famous for their breakfast. The shut down shop at 3pm, so it's a breakfast only spot. There are lots of them across Ontario, and Quebec. Slightly more pricey than your typical diner breakfast, but they have great smoothies and fruit bowls.

Fran's
Toronto's oldest diner. Breakfast is particularly good here. Two locations, one across from Massey Hall.

Hamilton, ON

Harbour Diner.
486 James Street north.
A little out of the way but you'll thank me.
Delicious food on the cheap. I suggest you try the Turkey wings or the Pulled Pork Poutine. (who here actually knows what a poutine is.. so delicous)
