Adds not displaying correctly and tiny reply box...
« on: January 07, 2011, 02:35:40 pm »

Anyone else having this happen?

PS- How do I add the uploaded images to the text area?

PPS- I'd much rather have the adds on the left, like the old forums.

PPPS- Still not a fan of the new forums. On the old forums, it was easy to tell which threads were unread, where you were and it just seemed to flow better. Maybe it'll grow on me?

Also, having the reply/edit buttons would be nice to have at the bottom....

Bottom of the posts? There are reply options at the end of the thread column and at the top of each post.

We can do that, no problem. But, it seems odd that there's a desire for this. From a readability standpoint, ads on the left disrupts the basic reading pattern of Western communications, which typically go from left-to-right, thus resulting in the reader having to skip over non-content to get the content as they browse. As a long-timer forum goer and manager of several websites, I've never heard anyone ask for ads on the left. With the sole exception of the PWS forums, all ad content is displayed on the right across all of EH's websites.

You guys are freaks :) We'll change them without any hesitation if there's a strong push from the users; I suspect most won't care one way or the other, so I'm hesitant to change it due to a few "preference" requests when it goes against company policy.

The old forums won't be shut down until the end of February, the process of improving the new forums does not end with the switch (or today).

Edit: Of course, the old forums break today. Sigh.

I like the adds on the left because it puts the content more centered on the page.

Sound guys are not normal characters, you should know this by now! :P

If we keep the ads on the right and they stay cut off as they are now, more room for content. I say keep them there.

I agree, now that I've seen it both ways.
Please move them back to the right.

As far as the small reply box, that was driving me nuts too as it responded very strangely once you had to start scrolling down but then I realized that you can drag the bottom of the box where the two horizontal lines are in order to resize it.  There seem to be a number of things such as this and the verification being for the initial certain number of posts that simply aren't real apparent, maybe a simple 'welcome to the new forum' guide would be helpful.

Otherwise, still waiting for spell check and wishing for tree view!

What are these "ads" you speak of?  I see lots of white space, courtesy of Ad Block Plus (running in Firefox) and NoScript, set to allow scripts only from PSW.

When advertisers stop all the blinky, scrolling and otherwise distracting stuff, I'll let the ads display again.  Any day, I'm sure ;)

The Ad and Content will be served on the right. I love tennis, but let's settle :)
