The buyer owns some pretty classy brands. Maybe the new owners will release an update of the MC-240. That would be the second best thing they could do, IMHO. (The best would be an update of the MI-200, but I won't hold my breath).

Bought in 1990 by Japanese (Clarion car audio maker)

bought in 2003 by D & M holdings (also Japanese)

bought in 2012 by Fine sounds Italy.

JR, you might remember "The Marantz Syndrome"... (a melt down, kind of like The China Syndrome).  When an output transistor failed it took out every transistor back up the signal chain, all the way to the pre-driver.  Perhaps D-M couldn't make a Macintosh fail in such a spectacular way?

What make the Marantz Syndrome spectacular was the repair bill the customer received.

The Flame Linear fail was much more visually stimulating, though.
